Windsor has been the home of Queen Elizabeth II since her childhood.
This year we celebrate her Platinum Jubilee - 70 years since her accession to the thrones of the United Kingdom & the Commonwealth.
The Coronation Dress & Robe at Windsor Castle
The Coronation Dress and Robe of Estate worn by The Queen for her Coronation at Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953 will be on display at Windsor Castle. Dates: 7 July 2022 - 26 Sept 2022
The lighting of The Windsor Beacon
Windsor has always been a part of Royal Jubilees and this Platinum Jubilee weekend will start with the lighting of the Windsor Beacon which is part of the National Beacon lighting.
The venue is the Long Walk and there will be music and entertainment along with a firework display.
Did you know that beacons will also be lit in each of the capital cities of the Commonwealth countries to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Platinum Jubilee Windsor Town Walk
The Queen has very strong ties with Windsor.
She grew up at the Royal Lodge, was an evacuee at The Castle during WWII and Windsor Castle is one of her official residences.
The guided Platinum Jubilee walk through Windsor tells the story of the Queen’s connection with Windsor throughout her reign.
Walks will be taking place on – 1st, 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th and 29th May 2022
A Gallop Through History
The Platinum Jubilee Celebration will host over 500 horses and 1,000 performers create a 90-minute piece of spellbinding arena theatre that will include actors and artists, musicians, international military displays from the Commonwealth and Europe, our own Armed Forces, dancers and global equestrian displays. All performed live to an audience of over 5,000 each of the four nights.
The Show is the fourth in a series of events at the same venue that have marked significant moments in the life of The Queen. These include The Golden Jubilee Pageant, The Diamond Jubilee Pageant and The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration, which won a BAFTA for the Best Live Event in 2016.
The production will take the audience on a gallop through history from Elizabeth I to the present day.
